BERLIN, NJ According to a recent Universal McCann survey, “new media” has become mainstream media, and the growth of podcasting has become “massive.” Tying into this current trend, area college podcast instructor Rita Christensen has created The Poducator, a new online tool for promoting existing web audio and video podcasts, as well as to assist Internet users in locating podcasts in any field of interest. Christensen is the first instructor in the country to teach podcasting at the college level. “Podcasting brings free audio and video media information on virtually every topic available, from fitness to self help, spirituality to cooking, and hobbies to corporations,” Christensen says. “More and more people are searching for information via podcasts, and podcasters, including many Inc. 500 companies, want to increase their podcast visibility. I created The Poducator as a one-stop shopping directory for everyone, from the podcast novice to the daily user, as well as for podcasters. While podcasts are free to subscribers, they are sponsored by advertisers. Consequently, podcasters can use The Poducator to garner additional subscribers and exposure, thereby allowing them to increase profits through ad sponsorships.” With over 30 years’ experience in publishing, agency and newspaper advertising, Christensen owns and manages iColor Studio, LLC, a company that creates strategic marketing plans, social media plans and community management, web, print, and new media graphics. She teaches podcasting at Camden County College’s Blackwood, New Jersey campus. |
